Festive Wildlife Watch Group for Kids
Children make your own Christmas decorations for your home or tree! This 11am event will still be outdoors for children aged between 8 and 12, but it’ll have a festive theme so wrap up warmly for a couple of hours of fun at Rushcliffe Country Park.
The session is run by Nottinghamshire Wildlife Trust. It plans to give youngsters a Christmas experience to collect useful items from outside for creating Christmas willow wreaths, decorations and cards.
It’s a good opportunity organisers say to “think about how wild animals and birds cope in winter. How do they keep warm? Where do they go? Do they put on a special coat? Or do they just go to bed and sleep?”
The Trust will have some snacks as well as drinks, and would like feedback on activities the children enjoyed at Wildlife Watch this year. Also they’d like to hear what nature sessions they’d like to do on Saturdays in 2023.
The Rushcliffe Wildlife Watch group meets monthly at 11am usually at our Country Park on the second Saturday, outside the Education Centre by the lake. Members and non-members are welcome; pay £3 on entry.
Leader Geoff East from the Trust says: “Watch groups are like a wild club for kids, packed full of wildlife activities and aimed at 8 to 12 year-olds, though we can take under 8-year-olds if accompanied by an adult. The group is led by the activities the children want to complete, including lots of time spent outdoors meaning a fun, creative and enthusiastic learning experience!” You can read more >>HERE<<.
